Camp Week Info!

Pre-Camp went AWESOME, and we are looking forward to an Amazing Camp week as we learn our show!


This is a very important week for the success of our marching band season! Camp week can be tough and tiring on the students, so we really need parents to support their kids with lots of encouragement (they’ll be more tired than usuall, might need an extra push in the morning), as well as reminders about the importance of hydrating, eating well and getting plenty of rest. 


Here are a few pointers to help your students have a positive, successful week!


  • All School Rules/Policies Apply to Band Camp (and all band activities) including Dress Codes.


  • CHS is a Closed Campus - meaning that during our breaks students must stay 


  • Bring a snack for our morning block on the field…this is a long time to be outside and a healthy snack that doesn’t contain a lot of sugar might be helpful. (avoid things that might melt)


  • Keep Hydrated consistently throughout the day with water or gatorade/powerade.  Students should not be drinking soda or energy drinks.


  • Students must eat breakfast.  Avoid lots of sugary cereals and dairy products which may not sit well with our physical activity. 


  • Get a good night's sleep


  • Wear Sunscreen - bring extra and apply it often during the day.  I promise, it is very uncomfortable to do this activity with a sunburn. 


  • Take a shower and wear deodorant.  As a High Schooler this is a perfect time to make this a part of your daily hygiene routine.  Your social life may depend on it!


Schedule:


Monday - 8am-5pm (Lunch Provided - Pizza/Salad)


Tuesday - 8am-5pm (Lunch Provided - Burgers/Hotdogs/Salad)


Wednesday - 8am-5pm (Lunch Provided - Breakfast for Lunch/Salad)


Thursday - 8am-8pm (Lunch Provided Mac and Cheese/BBQ/Salad) (Our regular rehearsal will end at 5, but our student leaders have planned some fun activities for the band to bond together and have some fun - Section Leaders are working out dinner and it will be communicated with each member)


Friday - 8am - 12:00pm - At 11am we will hold a Public Parent performance to show off all the hard work of our students at our Practice Field. Once this parent performance is done the students are dismissed and Band Camp 2025 will be complete!

Season Payment

Dear Marching Band Families,


As we approach the official start of our season with Band Camp 2025 we ask that you please make your season payment. Many of our major bills come due in the next few weeks (Music, Drill, Staff, Shirts, Shoes, Gloves).  You can see your balance via Cut-time and you can pay online (credit card fees apply).  


You can also send a check made payable to Caledonia Bands and place it in the white mailbox in the band room (Envelopes are provided at the box, please fill out your name and other information requested so we know who to credit)


Those who ordered shoes, gloves, play a school instrument/guard, will see those fees added shortly as we place those orders.


If you requested information regarding a payment plan or financial assistance Mr. Wellfare will be in touch with you soon.

Feed the Band - Food Requests!

Just in time for your weekend shopping we need some additional items for our lunches next week.  These items can be dropped off Monday morning to a cart outside the band room door when you drop off your student!

Healthy Reminders - Great First Day!

We had a great first day of rehearsal, we can already tell it’s going to be a great season!


THANK YOU - to our parent volunteers who were able to fit everyone for a uniform in record time!  


STAY HEALTHY

It’s going to be hot this week - we will be spending a little more time outdoors each day to acclimate everyone to the temperatures and workload. 

Here are some helpful tips to stay well

  • Drink Water/gatorade regularly throughout the day

  • Eat a healthy breakfast

  • Sunscreen!

  • Stretch 

  • Take a shower after rehearsal to bring core temperature down

To-Do for Pre-Camp/Camp:

  • Wear comfortable tennis shoes and socks (no sandals)

 

  • Wear loose athletic style clothing with deodorant
  • wear deodorant and take showers (your social life may depend on it)
  • Hydrate and eat good meals (especially breakfast)
  • Bring a water bottle to every rehearsal - VERY IMPORTANT!
  • Wear/Bring Sunscreen/Hats/Sunglasses
  • Make sure your instrument works and you remember to bring it!

  • Starting now - Get acclimated to heat and hydrate! (ideas: go to the beach, take your videogames outside and play them, mow the lawn, take a walk/bike ride)

 

  • Arrive at pre-camp on time and enter through the Fine Arts Entrance of the HS. Turn right to make your way to the Band Room once in the building.

Parent support is critical.

UNIFORM FITTINGS:

We need help next week with uniform fittings on Monday (7/21) from 8am-Noon (you don’t need to know how to do anything, we’ll train you!).  The more help we have on Monday the less likely we’ll have to send 5 more emails asking for help.  Also, our parents helping really appreciate that students wear deodorant.

During Full Camp Week we are trying something new!  Our student leadership team has set the menu for our lunches…They are requesting a family, or group of families, friends, etc, to sign-up for a day to coordinate Feeding the band lunch (You’ll work with Mr. Wellfare to know what exactly to do)  We’ll work with the people for each day getting the supplies needed, but if the families could pick up the food for the day (we’ll reimburse and also request donations for some items) that would help divide the work and not make one person be run ragged all week!  The students have chosen things that are easy to make on grills, hotpans, griddles, etc)

IF there is one person who can be available for the whole week to be a point person for each days set-up  that would be great, but we get it, people are busy.

Monday: Pizza (easiest day, order and pick-up, set-up, get salad, etc)

Tuesday: Grill Burgers/Dogs/salads (we’ll provide grill)

Wednesday: Breakfast for lunch/salad (pancakes, sausage, etc) You’ll need a  blackstone or large griddle of sometype)

Thursday: Mac and Cheese/Pulled porksalad (Roaster pans make this fairly easy if you have them)
