Announcements and Updates - September 16

Thanks again for continuing to be flexible and understanding as we navigate changes that are happening daily.  The students have been working hard and we are very proud of their efforts. We are working hard to create opportunities for our students given a situation that is out of our control.

Communication:

Now that we are back in a somewhat normal school schedule we will start sending our regular weekly Sunday announcement emails. These will be emailed through charms, sent as a link through remind, and posted in brightspace.

Football Games:

The MHSAA and State of Michigan have said that bands will not be able to perform at football games in phase 4 (our current phase). We will keep the games on our calendar should we move to phase 5.  Mr. Lienesch (HS Principal) has been very supportive in helping the band staff brainstorm creative performance opportunities to make sure that our students can present their hard work for the community.  We will have more information on this soon.

Invitationals/Competitions:

Our Invitational on Sept. 26 has been cancelled.  The remaining dates will stay on the Calendar, but the organizers of these events are still deciding how these will take place.  If these events happen in a way that makes sense for us to participate we will communicate that right away.

Daily Rehearsals/Virtual Learners:

Our Virtual Learners are able to attend our after school Monday rehearsals and other outside of school day events.  We have been told that at this point we are not able to have virtual learners in the building during our school day class time. We are advocating for a solution that would allow our virtual band students to attend class during the day, but at this point we have been told this is not allowed.  If anything changes we will communicate that with our Virtual Learners.

Thank you all for your dedication for our Band program and our students!
