Our first home game of the season is this Thursday, Sept. 2!

Itinerary:

4:15pm - Band Room Opens

4:30pm - Drumline Warm-Ups/ColorGuard Warm-Ups

5:00pm - Uniform Room Opens for changing

5:45pm - RTP (ready to play) on Practice Field in Full Uniform

6:30pm - March to Stadium

6:53pm - Pre-Game Performance

7:00pm - Kick-Off

9:15pm - Approximate game end and march back to school

9:30pm - Approximate Pick-Up

Uniform:

Full Uniform.  If you have not tried on your Marching Shoes yet please do so.  

Don’t forget Full Length black socks (no logos or stripes)

Announcements Week of August 30

We’ve had a great first week of school and it is nice to be back into a routine again!

-FIRST HOME FOOTBALL GAME is this Thursday, Sept 2.  Detailed itinerary and volunteer requests will follow shortly, but students can plan on 5pm-9:30pm approximately.

-MONDAY NIGHT REHEARSALS start this week (Aug 30) from 7pm-9pm on the practice field.  (guard and percussion start at 6)

-CONCERT UNIFORMS - Upperclassman who have a concert uniform at home still from any previous year….Please try it on to make sure it fits.  If it does not, please bring it back to school so we can have an accurate inventory moving forward in the year.  

-Jazz Band starts this week!  Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 6:50am-7:35am.  

-URGENT URGENT URGENT NEED - The Band Boosters is in need of a treasurer!  Cindy, our current volunteer treasurer is retiring (her kids graduated last year and she’s agreed to stay until we find her replacement!).  This position does require organization, and bookkeeping experience is a plus (but not necessarily required).  The treasurer works closely with Mr. Wellfare and our boosters board to make sure that the financial needs of our program are met and that our finances stay in order.  Everything is very organized so it is an easy transition to someone new and we will train anyone interested.  Please email Mr. Welfare (wellfarek@calschools.org) if you can help in this area!

-Scrap Metal Drive -  Saturday September 18 from 8am-4pm in the Stadium Parking lot.  Put it on your calendar and save your scrap!  We will also be collecting cans at this event!

Remind Texts for Parents

The band uses a texting service called “remind” to help aid communication with students and parents.

Students should have already signed-up using a separate group...so this message and it’s instructions are for PARENTS.

It is strongly encouraged that parents sign-up to receive these messages.  A few of the reasons are listed below

1)you will receive a link to our weekly announcements via text

2)if there are any last minute changes to a schedule you will get them right away!

3)if we are traveling you will receive updates on our location so you can plan pick-up times accordingly.

This is of course a free service, and we have had great success using it over the past decade or so.

Announcements Week of August 23

-Remember there is no rehearsal on Monday August 23.  Enjoy your last day of summer!

-Students - IF you are free on MONDAY and would like to volunteer to play the fight song for the district staff meeting the section leaders will be meeting at 7:45am in the band room.  We will quickly rehearse and then perform the fight song in the FAC.  You will be done by 8:25am.  Wear any Cal gear.  Contact your section leader for music or with any questions.

Rehearsal Reminder

Happy August!  We had two great weeks of Camp and now it’s time to get back into our regular schedule!  

We can’t wait to see you all on Monday, August 9 from 8am-noon.  

For Monday we will start rehearsal in the Band Room and adjust locations based on the weather.  

Don’t forget to eat a good breakfast!  Bring your water bottle, dotbook, music,  instrument, tennis shoes and any other supplies you might individually need for rehearsal!
