Thursday/Friday Update

Your students are working so hard!  Despite the heat they have accomplished every goal we have set each day, and we could not be more proud of their excellent work ethic!  Thank you parents for your continued support as the students push through this exhausting week!

Thursday update:

Here is the clarification of our end time on Thursday that was “?” in our previous messages.

Students can be picked up at 7:30pm from the band room on Thursday.  We will be eating dinner together (sloppy joes) and then playing some games, having skit night, and celebrating the hard work that has gotten our season off to a great start!

Friday Update:

Our Parent Performance will be Friday at 11am at our practice field!  Once the performance is done and the equipment is put away Band Camp 2024 is complete and students may go home!  Please keep checking your email regarding the performance Friday as the weather may dictate some changes.

Day 1 Reminders and Help!

We had a great first day of Band Camp!  This is the most important week of the year for Marching Band, and staying healthy is critical!  Keep Drinking water, and please make sure you eat good meals.  Parents, please continue to positively encourage and support your student even at their most tired/sore/grumpy (and they will be tired/sore/grumpy this week!)

-A few reminders:

-Band Camp (like CHS) is closed campus - students are not to leave at any point during the day

-An extra change of clothes or socks/shoes could be helpful…We do our best to keep students out of the weather, but Marching Band is an outdoor activity…

-If your student got hungry during rehearsal, it’s okay to bring a snack for breaks (just avoid items that will melt)

-Avoid soda and energy drinks

HELP!  Our parent food coordinator needs help at meal times!  She is superhuman, but she really can’t do it by herself.  PLEASE consider signing up to help at lunch if you are free! Click to sign-up

Important Health and Support Reminders:

This is a very important week for the success of our  marching band season! These weeks can be tough and tiring on the students, so we really need parents to support their kids with lots of encouragement, as well as reminders about the importance of hydrating, eating well and getting plenty of rest. Here are a few pointers to help your students have a positive, successful week!

-Bring a snack for our morning block on the field…this is a long time to be outside and a healthy snack that doesn’t contain a lot of sugar might be helpful. (avoid things that might melt)

-Keep Hydrated consistently throughout the day with water or gatorade/powerade.  Students should not be drinking soda or energy drinks.

-Students must eat breakfast.  Avoid lots of sugary cereals and dairy products which may not sit well with our physical activity.

-Get a good night's sleep

-Wear Sunscreen - bring extra and apply it often during the day.  I promise, it is very uncomfortable to do this activity with a sunburn.

-Take a shower and wear deodorant.  As a High Schooler this is a perfect time to make this a part of your daily hygiene routine.  Your social life may depend on it!

Pre-Camp went AWESOME, and we are looking forward to an Amazing Camp Week as we learn our show!
